November 29 – “Growing Closer During Social Distance”

November 25, 2020 by Fawn Smith

hands hearts universe

With special guest, Ginger Doss. 2020 has been a year unlike any other. But within its challenges are great teachings and opportunities. Even though we have had to social distance and isolate ourselves, we can still find comfort and strength through our connections. Nurturing our compassion for one another through mindful practice can build unseen bridges that span across any distance and can nourish us in a time when we might otherwise feel so alone. 2020 is a journey we have taken together, and we can heal together as well, no matter how far apart we are.

October 18 – “Can Transcendentalism Save Us Again?”

October 13, 2020 by Fawn Smith

Led by Rev. Jim Parrish. In the 1800’s, the Transcendentalist Club influenced U.S. society with Abolition of Slavery, equal rights for Women, creation of Public Education, realization of the importance of our Ecology, and many other progressive stances that are still important today. Is Transcendentalism important today? How might it change us, society, and our world? Please see your latest UUFF weekly email (can be accessed also at uufayetteville.org in the “This Week” section) for link/info to join this online service. To view the order of service, click HERE.

October 4 – “UU the Vote!”

September 30, 2020 by Fawn Smith

This Sunday, we joined with hundreds of other UU congregations around the nation for a joint service aimed at mobilizing our communities to #VoteLove and #DefeatHate in the 2020 elections. Speaker is UUA President Susan Frederick-Gray. There was a line-up of powerful, prophetic UU voices as we explore the intersections of faith, justice, and democracy in this collective virtual service.

Participants are encouraged to stay after service to share favorite thing(s) about UUFF and visions for the future. September 13 – “Water In-Gathering and Day of Hope.”

September 8, 2020 by Fawn Smith

It is time to kick off our “church year” with our seasonal Water In-Gathering! This year, let’s do something a little different. We’ll call it a ‘Waterfall of Hope.”

As usual, all are invited to have a bit of water from a special place (and a place to safely pour it when the time comes), but this year, as you pour your water, you are ALSO invited to allot $20 of “Hope” from the UUFF Giving Fund to a specific LOCAL charity/organization of your choice (let’s give to those that help people, nature, environment…and leave politics out of it for this Sunday). For your convenience, you can click HERE to view a list of some local charity organizations to research and consider. We’ll do this up to $1000. A few of us will be present in the UUFF Sanctuary to pour a bit of water (on your behalf) into our UUFF Fountain and write down the requests so that we can fulfill the giving of Hope.

When all who wish to give water, and/or Hopes have spoken, we will close the ritual by starting our fountain and enjoying a bit of music! A Sunday of Hope, for each other in Fellowship, and the broader community as well.
