Adults are welcome to join us at 10am each Sunday for a time of facilitated “Mindful Discussion.” There is a new topic each week, and it will be advertised in the weekly eNews the week beforehand. Please reach out to Brooke Eldredge or Kate Kowalski by emailing office@uufayetteville.org if you have specific questions.
Topic this Sunday: “The 3.5% Rule and Economic Protests.” Political science research has shown that when 3.5% of a country’s population mobilizes in peaceful protest, it becomes nearly impossible for the government to ignore the demands for change. In the U.S., this means about 12 million people. Peaceful protest can include not only marching in the streets, but other forms, as well. In this week’s discussion, we will focus specifically on economic protest. According to the Center for American Progress, economic protests can be highly effective at inducing change, particularly when they are sustained, well-organized, and involve a broad, diverse segment of the population. We hope you’ll join us.
