December 28, 2021 by Fawn Smith

You’re invited to join us this Sunday for the first service of the new year, and the first with Rev. Dr. Steven Gaines officially as our minister! Some moments of life are in between—between what has been and what will be. Such experiences can be both chaotic and exciting!

December 26 – “Was Jesus UU?”

December 24, 2021 by Fawn Smith

In this holiday season, as much of the world celebrates the birth of Jesus, we can ask interesting questions. Was Jesus a Unitarian Universalist? Did his life and teachings comply with UU principles? Did he draw from UU sources? Was he a heretic? What does all this mean for us? Led by Rev. Dr. Steven Gaines.

Audio only. Apologies for the technical difficulties at the beginning of the recording.

December 19 – “Holiday History: The 12 Days of Christmas”

December 15, 2021 by Fawn Smith

Join Renée as we take one last jaunt into Victorian Era holiday history and grapple with the racist origin of one of the most beloved Christmas carols. And we’ll try to solve the riddle of The Twelve Days of Christmas – what is up with all the bird symbology?

December 12 – “Happy Heretic”

December 7, 2021 by Fawn Smith

Led by Rev. Dr. Steven Gaines. This will be Rev. Steven’s first time preaching since being chosen/announced as UUFF’s next minister (will officially start in early 2022)! This Sunday, he will guide us in a reflection on Unitarian Universalism’s heretical identity, speak from personal experience with heresy in contexts of “orthodoxy,” and encourage us in our own searches for truth and meaning.

December 5 – “Stone Soup for the UU Soul”

December 2, 2021 by Fawn Smith

Join us this Sunday (services now offered both virtually and in-person with pre-registration) for a very special zoom play, “Stone Soup for the UU Soul.” This play was written/created by our own Jules Taylor and will be performed by the talented youth of UUFF!

November 28 – “Holiday History: Victorian Christmas”

November 23, 2021 by Fawn Smith

Led by Renée Janski. Did 1840’s Victorian England invent Christmas as we know it today? Did the Royal Family invent the Christmas tree? Why are there dead birds on Victorian Christmas cards? All this and *more* explained!

You can view the Order of Service by clicking here.

November 21 – “UUFF’s Bread Communion Service”

November 17, 2021 by Fawn Smith

Tis the season for our Annual Bread Communion Service! We’ll invite Dr. Sevin Gallo to speak to us about the culture of food. Dr. Gallo is an NWACC professor of World Civilization, and her teachings include an Honors class that focuses on food around the world. Everyone should BYOB (bring your own BREAD), whether you are joining the service remotely or in-person, so that we can enjoy it together during the Bread Communion part of the service!

November 14 – “The 5 Smooth Stones, Part 3”

November 9, 2021 by Fawn Smith

This is the final service of the Five Smooth Stones series given by Renée Janski. Let’s learn about the fourth and fifth smooth stones and about the time JLA came to UUFF.  How will we wrap it up? What will you take away from this series?

November 7 – “Once Upon a Time”

November 3, 2021 by Fawn Smith

Rev. Rhett Baird, who served as UUFF’s Minister from 1994 to 2004 and was later given the title of Minister Emeritus, joins us this Sunday via zoom. His visit will be a facilitated interactive engagement, and he will share some carefully selected stories from his life journey and ministry. Stories that some would call holy and sacred and others might call poignant and memorable. We all have such stories stored in our memory. They have helped to shape who we are. They can remind us of our capacity to learn. Some remind us of our resilience and inner strength. Some can inspire us. Some fill us with awe and wonder. Some invite gratitude, forgiveness, and acceptance. All enlarge our world. All seem to be connectional. And they are.
