This is the time of Nature’s full bloom! We honor the Spirits of Love and Bliss. Come with joy in your heart and flowers in your hair! We begin indoors for the service, then process outside to weave a dance of blessing and magic around our brightly-ribboned May pole!

Poetry Sunday is a tradition started by our beloved Minister Emeritus, Rhett Baird, and some people say it’s their favorite service of the year. What is your personal relationship to poetry? Renée Janski leads us as we examine the power of poetry in our lives, and several UUFF’ers read or recite their favorite poems!

April 9 – “What’s in Your Egg?”

April 4, 2023 by Fawn Smith

Many people celebrate Easter by dressing up, hunting eggs, eating candy, spending time with family, and remembering Jesus. Unitarian Universalists have various and often conflicting thoughts about Jesus. What can we all learn from the story of the resurrection of Jesus, even if we don’t accept it as historical fact? In this service, Rev. Steven helps us think about how Easter can empower us to live more fully in alignment with our principles.

April 2 – “Human-Induced Climate Change”

March 28, 2023 by Fawn Smith

A recent poll found that 72% of Americans believe that climate change is happening, but only 57% believe that humans are causing it. Join us as our own Bill Nichols speaks on “Human Induced Climate Change.” Bill will talk about what humans are doing to cause climate change and what we can do to help stop it. This is the first in a series of three messages on “Earth Care” from our Social Justice Team.

March 26 – “Every Body is Beautiful”

March 21, 2023 by el

Dealing with body image issues is a common experience. Countless factors contribute to it, and experts offer suggestions for navigating the difficulty. As a community that acknowledges everyone’s dignity and worth, we celebrate the beauty of all of our diverse bodies. That’s the topic of this service, prompted by Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31), and applicable to people of many identities. Rev. Steven speaks.

March 5 – “Expecting and Measuring Dignity”

February 27, 2023 by Fawn Smith

Imagine a world where dignity in our communications was not only expected but measured. Could the expectation of inherent dignity in communications help bridge our political divides and also address the impact of negative online behaviors? UUFF member, Brooke Eldredge is our speaker.

February 26 – “Black Women Music Pioneers”

February 21, 2023 by Fawn Smith

African Americans formed the musical genres of blues and jazz in the Deep South around the 1860’s. By the 1910’s, many black artists migrated to Harlem, NY, starting what became known as the “Harlem Renaissance,” which set the stage for the Civil Rights Movement. Jori and Renée highlight the stories and the music of women of color from this era.

February 14, 2023 by Fawn Smith

In this Valentine’s Day service, Rev. Steven speaks about the holiday’s fascinating history. The story could be a horror movie but is presented in a PG way with an exploration of love as more than candies, cards, and flowers. The UUFF Choir sings uplifting songs!
