September 14 – “Ingathering of the Waters”

September 10, 2025 by Fawn Smith

Let us gather together this Sunday for our annual Water Ceremony! Please bring a little water symbolizing somewhere important to you: your summer travels, your kitchen tap, a swimming pool, a hospital room, a lake, your gym, etc. to contribute to our communal bowl. The Water Ceremony is a symbolic “corner” of our church year, and this year will be slightly different. It’s also a Choir Sunday! Join us!

CHOIR, please gather in the Sanctuary at 9:45am for rehearsal.

You can attend service in person at the fellowship building or view it remotely online via Facebook Live Stream. To attend live via Facebook, wait until 11am Central Daylight Time (CDT) and go to: https://www.facebook.com/share/1M5DyyjHye/ and click on “Watch Live Video. August 31 – “Mutual Aid Action Sunday”

August 27, 2025 by Fawn Smith

We UU’s say that “service is our prayer,” and we have a wonderful Action Sunday planned, with opportunities to engage and serve in acts of justice together as a fellowship! Joanna Person-Michener will speak briefly on the importance of Mutual Aid, and then we’ll move to engage in action and learning opportunities! Incredible guest musician Mark Smidt will speak and play on the subject of ”Censorship’s impacts on classical music— Resistance, Rebranding, and Compliance” for all who wish to learn more. Also, thanks to your generosity last week during our Share the Plate, we’ll have supplies available for creating care packages with uplifting notes for the unhoused. And finally, all are invited to check out UUFF’s first annual “No-Buy” Stuff Swap downstairs and enjoy a vegetarian potluck. Please bring a dish to share if you are able, and know that all are welcome!

You can attend service in person at the fellowship building or view it remotely online via Facebook Live Stream. To attend live via Facebook, wait until 11am Central Standard Time (CST) and go to: https://www.facebook.com/share/17BeQKtB5K/ and click on “Watch Live Video. August 24 – “Lessons from Ben Franklin”

August 20, 2025 by Fawn Smith

Benjamin Franklin is remembered as one of the key founding fathers of this country. He was a printer, scientist, inventor, and statesman. But what were his views on religion and living a moral life? Join us this Sunday as our own Dr. Gene Vinzant, Professor of History at Northwest Arkansas Community College, talks to us about one of his favorite people in American history.

You can attend service in person at the fellowship building or view it remotely online via Facebook Live Stream. To attend live via Facebook, wait until 11am Central Standard Time (CST) and go to: https://www.facebook.com/share/1DhEdHRsPv/ and click on “Watch Live Video. **Special note from Rev. Renée about next Sunday’s “Action Sunday” Project and this Sunday’s Share the Plate: On August 31, during the Action Sunday activities, we will make care packages for the unhoused. This will include travel toiletries and a kind, uplifting note. I am hoping that we can make 100 during our time together. This is a needed and important social justice action for our community. All ages are welcome to participate. We want YOU to help determine how many care packages we make. We need $500 to make 100. All loose cash and any specially-designated checks (please make out to UUFF and write “share plate” in the memo line) put in THIS Sunday’s offering plates will be used for this project. If you can spare a little extra for this worthy endeavor, it would really be put to good use. **

August 6, 2025 by Fawn Smith

Oliver Burkeman points out in his book, “Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals,” that though our lives are limited, the number of things we have to do and want to do is not. How are we to choose? Speaker Dr. Marty Faitak has some ideas.

July 20 – “The Longest Journey of Our Lives”

July 16, 2025 by Fawn Smith

The sermon this Sunday will be a reflection on the role of parents. Our task as parents is to help prepare our children to stand on their own two feet. Our task as parents is to help our children learn to think for themselves, to make their own decisions, hopefully without loading them down with too much of our own baggage. Because the minute they are born, we begin turning loose of them. This is both the good news and the bad news about having children. They grow up! Holding on and letting go. Somehow we must manage to do both. Rev. John Johnson will be our speaker.
