UU prides itself in being a liberal religion, but like liberal democracy, there are flaws that keep it from reaching its full potential and leave it open to failures. Can an old but “new” way to generate change in governance save not only UU but the U.S.? This Sunday Rev. Jim Parrish will guide us in an exploration of Generative Democracy.

For centuries, we have been told that hierarchy and dominance are the only ways to organize human society. Join Rev. Renée as we explore the ancient and urgent alternatives—from matriarchal traditions to partnership models—that offer a blueprint for a world built on mutual respect rather than power over one another.

The fifth principle of Unitarian Universalism affirms “the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.” As an expression of this faith, many Unitarian Universalists (UUs) believe strongly in expanding voting access and participation. Members of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fayetteville (UUFF) actively support these efforts in numerous ways and at all levels of government. We also engage with and lift up organizations that share our commitment to democracy.

One such organization is the League of Women Voters. Our guest speaker this Sunday, Michelle Wolchok, President of the League of Women Voters of Washington County, will discuss the League’s history and long-standing work, its current priorities, the status of citizen-led ballot initiatives in Arkansas, and the importance of voting in the upcoming midterm elections. Additionally, the Raging Grannies NWA will provide uplifting and thought-provoking music for the service.
