June 30 – “Ozark Folk Traditions: A Cultural Tapestry.”

June 26, 2024 by Fawn Smith

Join local author, folklorist, and traditional healer Brandon Weston for another look at traditions of folk healing and magic from the Ozark Mountains. We delve deep into the many different cultures who have left their fingerprints on these traditions over the past two hundred years, as well as compare work of the “old days” to the dynamic and evolving magic of the modern Ozark region.

This Sunday, we “Shared the Plate” with the Cocoon Collective, NWA. This worthy nonprofit organization advocates for young people of the LGBTQIA+ community through several different programs and initiatives. To find out more, visit https://www.cocooncollective.org/

June 23 – “You’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught”

June 19, 2024 by Fawn Smith

UUFF Member Sue Coppernoll shares the encounters with racism – both overt and subtle – that she has encountered throughout her 90 years of living in the USA, where racism permeates our culture. A poet, Sue is “a daughter of the South” who grew up in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida. A graduate of Andrew College in Cuthber, GA, Sue lived in Ohio, Arizona, Iowa, and Illinois before moving to NWA in 2010.

June 16 – “Who Are We?”

June 12, 2024 by Fawn Smith

At the most recent UUFF leadership event, we engaged in a wonderful exploratory exercise put out by UUA. It’s so good that Rev. Renée wants to go deeper and hear also from YOU, the Beloved UUFF Community.
