February 8 – “UU History: May You Live in Interesting Times”

February 4, 2026 by Fawn Smith

Religions tend to have problems with their histories, especially when the historians recount differences in lived experience (actualities) versus the tenets they espouse. UU’s have our problems with history as well… we kept getting recorded as heretics, boundary pushers, and anti-authoritarians, sometimes to our serious detriment. How will we fare in this “interesting time?”

Speaker, Rev. Jim Parrish, served as minister of UUFF from 2014 until his retirement in 2022. He and his spouse Theresa love Fayetteville so much that they made it their home after retiring, and they continue to participate in the interesting fabric of northwest Arkansas’s political, ecological, and social justice life. Rev. Jim is pleased to share a service with fellow UUs at UUFF.

You can attend this service in person at the fellowship building or view it remotely online via Facebook Live Stream. To attend live via Facebook, wait until 11am Central Standard Time (CST) and go to: https://www.facebook.com/share/1AemochCG5/ and click on “Watch Live Video. A Facebook account is not required for viewing.
