June 22 – “Healing Trauma with Play”

June 19, 2025 by Fawn Smith

Every single person experiences some form of trauma throughout their life, but did you know that we can use play to heal ourselves from trauma? That’s right, play isn’t just for children or enjoyment. It’s a fundamental and necessary aspect of the human experience regardless of age. Join Kali Cook as she reveals how trauma impacts us on neurological/psychological levels, and how using play can counteract the negative impacts trauma has on our brains. Kali will be hosting an after-service discussion in the Sanctuary at 12:30pm for anyone interested in talking more/sharing resources.

June 15 – “What Are…the Different Types of Buddhism?”

June 11, 2025 by Fawn Smith

Lama Surya Das confirms that Buddhism and Unitarian Universalism value many of the same things, including experiential practice, study and self-inquiry, mindful awareness cultivation, insightful wisdom development, and loving-kindness, combined with active compassion in the world. Join Rev. Renée for a pluralistic dive into the different schools of Buddhism.

June 8 – “Hypernormalization: the Falsehood of Stability”

June 6, 2025 by Fawn Smith

In a hypernormalized world, we recognize the artificiality of the system, yet continue to operate within it because the alternative – stepping outside of what we know and what others believe – demands too much faith amidst uncertainty. External pressures aside, does our own reluctance to move into the unknown mean that we are doomed to a life of “playing along?” Join Rev. Renée in this philosophical deep dive.
