Sometimes we are living in the shadow of a large stone keeping us in the dark. In this Easter service, we examine the classic story of the empty tomb not as an illustration of dogma, but as a profound metaphor for human resilience and solidarity. Human hands—working across different beliefs and backgrounds—are the ones that truly roll away the boulders of personal struggles and systemic oppression.

There will be an Egg Hunt for children to enjoy after the service. The eggs will be hidden on the grounds (weather permitting), and parents and guardians should be prepared to supervise their children. All are welcome!

In an era of relentless headlines and political upheaval, a huge No Kings March, and Transgender Day of Visibility, it’s easy to feel like we’re drowning in the “now.” This Sunday is the 5th Sunday, and it is our first “Action Sunday” of 2026. We will have an abbreviated service followed by breakout sessions to DO something. Go downstairs with Gretchen and Janet to write letters and sign petitions for activist work. Stay with Rev. Renée and Kate for a Singing Vigil vibe in the sanctuary to care for self and sing about it all. Or take a moment to walk away and be at peace in the memorial garden and just have some conversation. One hundred percent of money collected during this Sunday’s offering will be shared with New Beginnings NWA (more info below), AND it’s being matched. We aren’t just fighting for a better world; we’re learning how to live in one, too.

The belief that the past was somehow better than the present is, for the most part, a myth that is often repeated from one generation to the next. People tend to remember the good things and forget about the bad, especially when the hardships were suffered by others. This Sunday, Rev. John Johnson will talk about how our memories are shaped and how they influence our views of the present and our hopes for the future.
