Topic this Sunday: So What Exactly is a “Soul”? Is there a universal definition of the word “soul”? One definition explains soul as being “the principle of life, feeling, thought, and action in humans, regarded as a distinct entity separate from the body, and commonly held to be separable in existence from body”. The only Hebrew word traditionally translated “soul” (nephesh) in English-language Bibles refers to a living, breathing conscious body, rather than to an immortal soul.
