Topic this Sunday: “Emotional Labor: What is it and why does it matter?”
Dictionary.com defines “emotional labor” as “the sum of small acts performed by one person to make other people’s lives more pleasant and to protect them from negativity, including hiding the effort required to do so.” This type of labor is essential to society, family and work relationships, as well as to individuals, yet it is often undervalued compared to physical or productive labor. How do we as UU’s think about emotional labor in our personal lives and our community? We hope you’ll join us for our discussion.
