Each Sunday morning, adults are invited to join together at 10am in the downstairs common room to discuss a planned topic. Join us!
Topic this Sunday: “Toxic Positivity: Getting beyond the push to always be positive.” This week’s discussion will be led by UUFF member and Mindful Discussions participant, Steve Krogull, and by Kate Kowalski. Together, they will offer thoughts on the topic of toxic positivity. Organizational Psychologist and author, Adam Grant, posted the following in his “Granted” blog, “Beyond Toxic Positivity”, on February 11th: “In hard times, urging people to be positive doesn’t boost their resilience. It denies their reality. People in pain don’t need good vibes only. They need a hand to stay steady through all the vibrations. Strength doesn’t come from forced smiles. It comes from feeling supported. No one needs constant positivity, but everyone needs a sense of possibility.” We will explore these ideas and discuss how we might better deal with negativity and complexity while finding support for ourselves and being supportive of others. Join us!
