Topic this Sunday: “Is America a Failed State?” Obviously, America exists and functions. However, a close look at indicators of the fragility of states shows that the direction of change in America is toward increased weakening of basic structures that are known to support the vitality of states. We will look at indicators of state fragility and interpret them from the perspective of theories of social change. The first website is the Fund for Peace, and it goes into detail about measuring fragility, and the second is for those who are still having trouble sleeping and covers theories of social change.
