Each Sunday morning (except during summer break in July and August), adults are invited to join together at 10am in the downstairs common room to discuss a planned topic. Join us!
Topic this Sunday: “Is it time to reconsider Bucket Lists in favor of Chuck-It Lists?”
Following the 2007 film, The Bucket List, many people began creating lists of things they hoped to do, see, or accomplish before they “kicked the bucket.” While each person’s list might vary, common themes are trips, adventures, classes, relationships, or other experiences. According to the author of a recent opinion piece in the Washington Post titled, Why you should swap your bucket list with a chuck-it list, “Bucket lists can be a fun, inspirational tool.” However, she goes on to say that bucket lists can also be oppressive, especially if the things on the list aren’t realistic (eg: financially, physically, or otherwise). What kinds of things are on your “bucket lists”? Are there items you might transfer over to a “chuck-it list”? We hope you’ll join us for what we hope will be a fun discussion around pursuing our dreams and/or letting go of what no longer fits.
