Time: 10:00 am - 10:45 am
Location: Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fayetteville
All are invited to gather downstairs in the common area of the fellowship building on Sundays at 10am for a facilitated discussion focused on a specific topic (advertised in the eNews the week before).
Topic this Sunday: “Perspective: One of the 8 Pillars of Joy.” In last Sunday’s Mindful Discussion we learned about the “8 Pillars of Joy” described by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama in their 2016 New York Times bestseller, The Book of Joy. The first of the 8 pillars is Perspective. As part of their weeklong meeting and discussion around the topic of joy, the Dalai Lama commented that, “We must look at any given situation or problem from the front and from the back, from the sides, and from the top and the bottom, so from at least six different angles. This allows us to take a more complete and holistic view of reality, and if we do, our response will be more constructive.” This week we’ll explore the issue of perspective and discuss the benefits and challenges of avoiding what the book describes as “perspectival myopia.” We hope you’ll join us.
