All are invited to gather downstairs in the common area of the fellowship building on Sundays at 10am for a facilitated discussion focused on a specific topic (advertised in the eNews the week before).
Topic this Sunday: “Zozobra: The Power of Ritual and Community.” Imagine an annual event where 60,000+ community members and visitors come together to share a celebratory and cathartic release of their worries, anxieties, stresses, and woes. This is what Kate and Steve experienced on a recent trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the city was celebrating its 100th annual Zozobra. The name of the event is taken from the Spanish word “zozobra” which refers to a strong feeling of anguish, anxiety, worry, or gloom. The event involves the burning of a 50-foot effigy that’s been filled with notes, documents, photographs, medical bills, and other flammable items from attendees. We hope you’ll join our discussion this week as we explore the power of ritual, ceremony, celebration, and community in letting go of life’s disappointments and pain, and moving forward with renewed energy.
