Upcoming Events/Announcements

Women’s Wisdom Circle will meeting will be at Elder Tree this Saturday, August 5th at 10am. Elder Tree is a house located near Gulley Park in Fayetteville. The address is 2610 N. Old Wire Road. This is a one-time location change for this meeting only. Linda Flores is currently staying at Elder Tree while recovering from surgery, so we are bringing the meeting to her and also will have Elder Tree members in attendance. It should be a great meeting! We’ll be back at the UUFF annex for future meetings.

Please bring a finger food snack to share, if you wish! We’ve extended our usual meeting time by one hour so that we can visit for a while after the meeting.

The program, facilitated by Carol Tarvin, will be “Women Who Told the Truth.” All who identify as women are welcome to attend the Women’s Wisdom Circle Meetings.

UUFF Fundraiser Opportunity- THIS SUNDAY, August 6th is deadline for pre-purchases to go toward the fundraiser! UUFF member Michael Hoerman has designed, typeset, printed and bound a chapbook of some of his award-nominated and award-winning poetry, which he has titled Disoriented Fascination. This book is available for pre-purchase, and these purchases come with a very generous perk– Michael will DONATE BACK TO UUFF 75% of all proceeds from books pre-purchased by UUFF members/friends! Books must be ordered and paid for by Sunday, August 6th at the very latest to qualify for the fundraiser. “Pre-purchase” simply means that UUFF members & friends get to buy copies of Michael’s book before they become available to the general public AND participate in a great fundraising opportunity for the our Fellowship while supporting and enjoying the art of one of our talented members.

Michael will have a preview of his book available and will be in the UUFF foyer on Sundays up to August 6th to answer any questions and accept “pre-purchase” orders/payments. The books are $20 each, and checks should be made out to Michael Hoerman with “book pre-order” in memo line.  Cash can be put in an envelope with your name on it and please specify on envelope what it is for. Pre-purchases can also be given to Fawn in the office to be passed on to Michael if he is unavailable. *On Sunday, August 13th at 2pm, Michael will do a reading in the Walker Community Room of the Fayetteville Public Library. All are more than welcome to attend.*

UUFF Photo Directory- IMPORTANT UPDATE- SIGN UP FOR A MAKE-UP PHOTO SHOOT!

Thank you to the individuals and families who braved the torrential rain to have professional photos taken for the updated UUFF directory.  Having a picture directory is an important way for us to better get to know each other and strengthen our community ties.  We are aware that circumstances made it prohibitive for some to participate, and we are hoping to bring the photographers back for another sitting. They will only come if we can guarantee a minimum number to sit for their portraits.  Please consider the fact there is absolutely no cost or obligation to either you or UUFF to have your LifeTouch picture included in the directory, and there is a limit to how many non-LifeTouch (aka-personally provided) photos we can include without incurring a cost to the Fellowship.

Please let us know if you are willing and able to come here in near future for your free professional LifeTouch photo sitting. Please enter your name and email address on the RSVP spreadsheet to be accessed via this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-Ka5L6sYnqLmXQQ9wtTgrKYi-sDpz9Jzgh4C5ol8xG8/edit?usp=sharing or let Fawn know at uuff.ar@gmail.com

Volunteer Opportunities!

Provide flowers for UUFF Sanctuary on Sundays

Sign-up sheet in the lobby with Sunday dates listed. All you need to do is put your name and contact info by chosen date, and be sure to let us know if the flowers you plan to provide are in honor of some special occasion or person or just because. If you know you want to provide flowers on a specific future Sunday but can’t make it to the fellowship to sign up, please email uuff.ar@gmail.com, and we’ll be more than happy to put you on the list. An email reminder will be sent during the week before “your Sunday.” Note also that we have PLENTY of vases here for use, so that’s one less thing to worry about.

Greeter/Usher and Coffee Hour Sign-Ups

What does it mean to be a welcoming community? One thing is to greet those who come on Sunday morning with a warm smile, a hardy handshake and a friendly reminder to wear their nametag….

We would like to have three greeters/ushers each Sunday. One to be aware of visitors, another to be sure everyone gets an order of service, and a third for backup and to direct folks to the Sanctuary, RE or restrooms.

It takes a village to make warmth and welcoming a reality every Sunday morning and YOU CAN HELP! Below is a link to the Greeter/Usher Volunteer sign-up sheet. Please take a moment to put your name down for one or two Sundays.

Coffee Hour Hosting is another very important opportunity to serve. You can sign up as a volunteer to host via this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17bmSY2FfoZjyubPnjYfNuzVd9QG-XRAvm0zUqKNPNMc/edit?usp=sharing

You will receive an email reminder a few days before your shift with a list of greeter/usher or coffee hour host duties to help orient you. Most Sundays will have a lead greeter/usher from the Membership Committee to help make this important task fun and anxiety-free!
